Food/Nutrition
Our nutritional intake should come from food so that we can keep supplementation to a minimum. Eat a balanced diet and varied foods.
Daily diet
The following should be in your diet:
Complex carbohydrates – 5 to 9 portions.
Fruits and Vegetables – 6 to 9 portions.
Proteins – 3 to 5 portions
Fats – less than 35% of our diet.
Tips for maximum nutrition
Refining foods takes out most of the nutritional value. Organic food is usually more nutritious.
Eat the skins of fruits and vegetables.
Do not cut, wash or soak vegetables until you are ready to eat them.
Eat brown rice and whole grains.
Choose fresh fruits and vegetables. Nutritional value decreases with age, so frozen is better if you aren’t going to eat it immediately.
Eat raw fruits/vegetables when you can – if you must cook, use very little water.
